Tested last night in rehearsal in a small studio, sound really reduced as expected, almost muffled, sufficient rebound, but for me ideal for rehearsing and singing at the same time without pushing too much to cover the snare drum.

Excellent. I use it to soften the sound of my snare drum, which is a bit too sharp compared to the rest. When you hit hard, the snare sound remains crisp and characteristic. However, it's far from silent if you play a bit... (at least on the snare, it's fine for the toms). So if you're in an apartment, be careful not to be disappointed, it will still be somewhat annoying for those around you, I think...
If you hit a little less hard, then indeed, the sharpness that hurts the ears (and the neighbors) is well attenuated and it allows you to practice with moderate noise (but not silent either, you can still be heard in the house, at least for the snare with the snare wires).
Without the snare wires, the sound becomes very muffled, hardly playable with the rest (if there is no mute) but ideal for practicing and doing exercises. Indeed, no one will complain, even in an apartment!
The rebound feel is quite pleasant and doesn't seem to cause any problems. That said, being a beginner, a pro's opinion might be more mixed regarding the rebound since for speed playing, the reduced rebound (still) could be an issue.
